Just a spoonful of sugar....
come on, sing along, you know you want to!
About 10 days ago, we took the kids to New York City to enjoy their big Christmas gift...tickets to see Mary Poppins on Broadway! We had such a great day together and have decided that we would like to do a trip or "experience" gift each Christmas.
We took Amtrak into the city because we had vouchers from our last big train trip. It would have cost a lot more than our regular Metro North tickets on the commuter train, but I have to say, it would almost be worth it. There were only 2 stops on the way in, seats were FAR more comfy, and we didn't have to change trains. We took our own lunch along and ate on the way there so that saved even more!
When we arrived, we had some ticket exchanging to do at Penn Station, then we headed up to New Amsterdam Theatre on Broadway...about a 10 block walk in the yucky weather. We picked the one snowy day that we have had recently...also happened to have lots of kids out of school because of weather and a winter holiday. I'll be sure to check that out next time!:)
We arrived early enough for a snack and then settled in to enjoy the show. It was almost 3 hours of GREAT entertainment! I would highly suggest it.
We finished up our day with dinner at Tony's. It is our favorite place to eat, and the kiddos ate an entire platter of ravioli! We even had time for a quick ride on the Ferris Wheel at Toys R Us in Times Square.
A short trip home on Amtrak...business class this time...again, thanks to the vouchers! Ian informed us that he could get used to travelling in business class! Yeah, couldn't we all? It was nice!
In true family fashion, we didn't take our camera! Actually, that was intentional...didn't want to carry it around all day and you can't take pictures in the theatre anyway.
