All we do is eat....
AAAHHHHHH.......back to the land of Normal...visiting my sis in Portland!
After a LONG, late flight on Jet Blue, I arrived in Portland at 1:00 Sunday morning where it was still almost 100 degrees. Six hours later, we were hitting the road to surprise my parents with a visit. Nate, Alyssa, and the girls met us for a pre-church coffee at Starbucks, then it was off to surprise Mom and Dad. We met them at church, had lunch at Rendezvous Grill, and went back to where Mom and Dad were staying to spend the afternoon.
Mom made fried apricot pies for us (thanks Tony and Linda for letting us use the kitchen!), and we spent much time laughing together. It was a great afternoon.
Monday morning, we hit the road at 7:00 to visit our favorite restaurant on the Oregon coast - The Lazy Susan Cafe in Cannon Beach! Of course, it doesn't hurt that we have such fond memories of it since we both worked there for several years! If you ever get to Cannon Beach, stop in and have an omelet....yummmmmm.
We had a little time to waste until we picked Nancy up for lunch, so we headed to Tillamook for a quick visit with one of my sister's coworkers. Then, we tasted our way through The Blue Heron French Cheese Company, stopped and waded through tourists at The Tillamook Cheese Company. WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE THERE! We skipped all of the lines, grabbed 2 cheddar snack pieces, and got out of there.
Back to Cannon Beach to walk around with yet more tourists...we wondered through several shops, laughed at greeting cards until people were staring at us (don't care, we were having a wonderful time!), and then sat in the square by The Coaster Theatre while we waited for Nancy to grace us with her presence!:)
Of course, by the time she escaped the restaurant, we were hungry again....so off to Pizza A Fetta for a slice....one of the best around! We had lots of fun conversation, caught up on everyone, and just all around enjoyed our time together with Nancy! (love you and glad that you are our friend!)
Today began with a visit to Starbucks and Noah's Bagels. I must get off of here so that we can play cards for awhile before our lunch at Serratto, only to be followed by dinner with 4 of my friends here at The Cheesecake Factory.
I'm pretty sure that if you've read all of this, you have gained a few pounds!
I'll update you on the Troy and the kiddos in NY the next time I write, but they are having lots of fun together. I miss them and it seems a little weird to be without them for 5 days.....be home soon!
