Serious business

Little League T-ball is serious business. Well, not the game so much as what player has ice cream duty for the post-game celebration and what kind of ice cream he/she brought. Again, I don't know what we are celebrating because we don't keep score, no one is ever "out" even if they are tagged, or the hit ball is caught in the air, or there is a force play at any base and everyone gets to bat every inning and play a different position every inning. Never mind that the first baseman can't catch a ball to save their life or that the right fielder is more interested in dandelions than the ball! You can clearly see even at this age that some kids are naturally not athletic while others are. Why fight genetics? Ok - enough ranting about t-ball.

Ian is having a great time, the weather has been beautiful, and by the end of the season we may have met some new friends. It take people here a LONG time to warm up! The new friends probably won't include the little boy (or his family) who Ian cracked in the face with a great hit during the first - oh, and ONLY - practice. He was led blubbering off the field while another parent remarked, "Oh, that is ______. He is the little boy who has all of the problems with his front teeth!". Do we know how to make friends or what? I like the one onlooking grandpa who quickly replied, "Well, at least he didn't drop the ball!".
