Mystic Travels
We spent a few days at Mystic, CT this week and had SO much fun. We all needed a little time away to just hang out and be a family. Life has been very busy with our move and Troy's new job.
We visited Mystic Seaport the first day. It was a beautiful fall day - sunny and just a little cool. We met some very interesting volunteers who gave us lots of information about living in a seaport village in the 1800s, and because we were visiting at a slow time, they had time to talk to us and answer all kinds of questions.
We spent several hours at Mystic Aquarium on the second day. It was rainy and cold, but the hotel loaned us a couple of HUGE umbrellas and we braved the weather! Fortunately, only a few exhibits were outside. Again, we met GREAT volunteers who were eager to visit with us and answer all of our questions. They have a very neat replica of the Titanic, and the lady there walked through the whole exhibit with us pointing out interesting facts. We had just been listening to the Magic Tree House book about the Titanic so it was fun to be able to see the replica and learn about the discovery of the actual wreckage. We watched them feed beluga whales and penguins and attended a sea lion show. It was a really fun day!
And of course, we ate at Mystic Pizza....actually we ate there twice. It was VERY good. After all, it is the pizza that made the movie famous!
We stopped at IKEA on our way home and got lots of stuff to do some work on the apartment where we are living. Troy has been busy ever since we got home, and here I sit blogging! :)
A good time was had by all.
